What I am loving this week... My top FIVE!
I picked this book up a while ago and it has been sitting next to my bed for a while. To be honest the main reason I didn't pick it up sooner was because I recently finished writing my own YA romance set in outerspace, A Sky Full of Stars, and I need to write a sequel... and well, I tried to read outside the genre I'm writing in... Anyhow, I have put aside Book Two for the moment whilst I edit Entwined and write the second book, Entangled, and thought this would be a perfect time to delve into Claudia Gray's new book. And I am LOVING this!!! Only a quarter of the way through it but so in love already....
There is a reason why I am loving Yoga this week. It's because on the weekend I ran my very first (and quite possibly my only) half marathon. That's right, I got up early went all the way into city and ran 21km (not sure what that is in miles). It took me too long, I hadn't trained as much as I should of and I was completely shattered afterwards. So this week yoga has been my saving grace. It's reminded me to be patient with my body, its helped me stretch out some sore achy muscles and has been super helpful for reminding me of how lucky I am that my body works and that it is capable of running constantly for more than two hours. I am lucky.... I know a few people who right now, would love for their bodies to be strong and fighting and resilient.
I was in the middle of writing Entangled, the working title for Entwined's sequel when I was sent the next round of edits for Entwined and I have to say - I am enjoying editing in tandem with writing! As I read through Entwined I am simultaneously plotting out the next novel and am so inspired. So YES... I am enjoying editing this week :)
I posted last week how I was excited about spring being so close... well... how beautiful is the image above? I would like to say it is my backyard but it's not. BUT I do have one beautiful cherry blossom tree in my yard that looks as magnificent as these do for a few weeks of the year and this week I noticed tiny pinky purple buds on the branches. Cannot wait until this is in full blossom.
Confession. I cannot listen to audio books. For some reason audio books have the same effect on me as a lullaby in that within minutes of starting them up I am sleeping like a baby. My husband is a big audio book fan and as he is out and about on the road as part of his work he often listens to audio books when the radio starts to annoy him and he thoroughly enjoys them. I've even caught him sitting in the car listening when he's home because he needs to know what happens.
But I can't do them. I just fall asleep.
Podcasts on the other hand.... I love!! And right now I am seriously loving CASEFILE, the true crime podcast produced by an anonymous Australian guy. There is a new podcast most week and the narrator has the best voice to keep you on the edge of your seat, plus he delivers so much detail with each case that you have to wonder how much time he spends researching each case. And they aren't only Australian cases. He gets his fascinating crimes from all over the world and if always delivers a trigger warning at the start of any particularly upsetting crimes. If you haven't listened to Casefile I recommend it!
That's my favourite five on Friday for this week. Happy weekend readers!
