Today I am sharing the first page of Entwined, which releases on 22 September, with you. I loved writing this story and I am even more in love with book 2, Entangled, which is half written and continues to the love story between Nate and Eve set against the back drop of a world filled with faeries, demons and angels.
I stood at the front of the room and surveyed the students, scrutinizing each of them.
The teacher introduced me. Her nasally voice sounded like white noise and I barely listened. It was all the same, anyhow, everywhere I went. She’d tell them my name, tell them where I was from, and ask them to make me feel welcome, which, for the most part they would. Especially the girls.
But I wasn’t here to mess around with girls, although that was always an added bonus. I was here because the clues had led me here. I was here searching for her.
Immediately, I dismissed half the class. They were boys and of no interest. Instead, I paid particular attention to the girls who stared at me with wide, appreciative eyes. I grinned. As cocky as it sounded, my appeal to the opposite sex was not lost on me. I was well aware of the impact I had on human girls, and how easily influenced they were. Maybe I could have some fun after all, I thought as I regarded the pretty, mortal girls with their bouncy curls and shiny, ignorant eyes.
I refocused my attention. I was here for a purpose. One purpose only.
All the clues had led me to this place and this time, and I was sure I’d not misread them. She had to be here.
As if in confirmation, the latest clue, tattooed on my wrist, started to throb and I rubbed the Russian words absently.
My gaze lingered on a pale girl, who stared at me with large, gray eyes fringed in long dark lashes. She reminded me of a startled deer, caught in the headlights of a car. As my gaze met hers, her eyes widened and the color deepened to a dark violet. Maybe…
But then she blinked, her cheeks flushing as she looked down at her desk.
No, I sighed, dismissing her. Maybe this is just another dead end…
I hope you enjoyed!!
Tomorrow is release day and I am soooooo excited!! If you haven't entered the giveaway to win a free copy you can still do so by clicking the rafflecopter link below. It's so easy.
This picture.... This character... I can't give too much away except to say that this character is integral to the story of Nate and Eve. She is a 'guarder of knowledge' and knows so much about them both, more than they do. She's beautiful, intelligent and loyal and although I had originally written her into the story, when I found this image I was inspired to make her a more dominant character. I hope you love her as much as I do.
Nate. A demon prince. I felt like this picture epitomised Nate, or as he would look at home in Lume. Dark, mysterious, regal, gorgeous with just a hint of underlying danger. Of course the present day Nate is not walking around dressed like this but back at home in Lume....
Eve. Sweet. Pretty. Innocent. Naive. With just a hint of who she will one day become. Her potential is evident in the graceful way she holds herself and her innate elegance and growing sense of self.
Lume. I cannot wait to delve more into this place. I loved this setting, it was dark, gruesome and frightening and this captures it beautifully. For more of Lume you can check out my pinterest page for Entwined here.
I just love this image. The world is literally falling apart around these lovers but they are so caught up in themselves that they don't even notice. Passion and desperation all captured in one image. This is what inspired the intensity of feeling between Nate and Eve.
Check back in tomorrow to read the FIRST CHAPTER of Entwined, the day before release!!
